I believe the human body is capable of incredible things. With a thoughtful plan and smart recovery, we have the power to heal, adapt, and build true resilience - giving you the strength and physical freedom to do the things you love for decades to come.

At Mary Cristelli Performance Coaching, I provide premium, in-home personal training for Richmond residents who view their health, strength, and longevity as some of their most valuable investments. Whether you're located in The Fan, Forest Hill, or surrounding neighborhoods, I eliminate the friction, distraction, and cookie-cutter nature of traditional gyms. I bring professional-grade equipment, biomechanical expertise, and a customized roadmap directly to your home.

Strength & Longevity
Whether you’re looking to move with more ease, chase a new personal milestone, or future-proof your body against injury, my approach is informed by scientific principles and refined through over a decade of proven results. I don’t believe in extreme, high-intensity templates or rigid programming that feels more like competitive sports than real life. My programs are built foundation-first to protect your joints, improve your range of motion, and build real-world strength tailored specifically to you and your goals.

I specialize in integrative functional movement - a training modality that translates directly to your daily life. My programs are suited for women ages 35–70 who want to invest in their future selves by focusing on:

  • Building & Maintaining Lean Muscle Mass

  • Increasing Bone Density

  • Enhancing Joint Mobility & Health

  • Improving Balance & Stability

You don't need extreme intensity; you need an efficient, intelligent roadmap led by a coach who really listens. Together, we'll build your strength progressively so your body thrives outside the gym.

A Partnership Rooted in Shared Values
The best results happen when we work in true partnership. I love collaborating with clients who bring curiosity and a readiness to invest in their future selves.

As a lesbian-owned business in RVA, creating a safe, affirming, and inclusive environment is central to my coaching. My practice is built on a foundation of mutual respect and shared values; I find I am at my best when working with kind, progressive, and open-minded individuals who value social compassion and inclusivity as much as their own personal growth.

While looking and feeling your best is a wonderful part of the process, my heart is in your longevity. I want to ensure you move with ease and confidence for decades to come, so you can fully enjoy the beautiful life you’ve built here in Richmond.

Training Should Be Safe

Results come from consistency, if you’re hurt you can’t be consistent, and pushing through the pain only leads to more issues down the road - I know this from personal experience. My journey navigating overuse injuries and ongoing shoulder problems throughout my adult life have informed my training style to establish correct movement patterns, strengthen your joints, improve balance and coordination, and make you stronger overall so your body is more resilient to injuries.

Your program will work when you show up

Your program works when you show up and put in the effort. I'll be here to provide the roadmap and encouragement, but the real magic happens when you bring your own fire to every session.

Training Should be Enjoyable

Well, as enjoyable as hard training can be, anyway. My programs are built on simple principles that have been proven to be effective. I routinely update your program so you continue to progress and don’t feel like you’re just doing the same thing again and again.

You need a personalized plan

Anyone can drop a video on social media telling you that what works for them will work for you too. However, if the “5 best exercises for….” don’t account for your body, injury history, and goals, what’s the point? Training should have a purpose and be relevant to you. I structure your program to have you progressively build toward your ultimate goal.

Training Should Feel Supportive

I really value the human aspect of the client/trainer relationship; it can make or break the outcome of our partnership. The gym can be intimidating and the fear of being judged or having a trainer who yells at you keeps people away from a space I’ve seen so many people (myself included) experience incredible transformation and empowerment. You deserve to feel welcome in the gym. You deserve to be spoken to respectfully while you're being challenged physically. Your trainer should be approachable, and open to your feedback and questions - it’s your body being trained, you know it best and what you’re feeling matters.
